In addition to these guidelines, when using the connection the guidelines concerning the use of LUT University’s computer systems and information communication network must be observed where applicable. The use of the Lnet connection must not cause conflict with them.

The holder of the Lnet connection is a person in a rental agreement with LOAS who has been offered the possibility to join the Lnet network via the online services offered by LOAS. The connection is personal and the holder of the connection is responsible for all uses of their connection. LOAS charges a monthly fee for the use of the Lnet connection in connection with the payment of rent.
A person or persons authorised to use LUT University’s online services, who belongs to another member organisation of Funet has the right to temporarily use the connection alongside the holder of the connection (e.g. Finnish universities and higher education institutes).

Each connection holder must ensure the data security of their computer and aim to prevent the possibility of unauthorised use. The connection holder is obliged to report any faults and misuse immediately to the network manager of the building.
LOAS is not responsible for any damage caused to equipment or the loss of data, which results from thunder, power shortages or other similar phenomena. The holder of the connection is responsible for all the property received concerning the use of the connection, and shall be liable to damages, if necessary.
Information security
All monitoring of network traffic is strictly prohibited and will lead to the immediate closure of the connection. People responsible for the operations of the network may monitor network traffic, if it is essential in terms of the operations of the network.
Commercial use and offering services
The commercial use of the Lnet connection is prohibited. The Lnet information network or the domain lnet.fi must not be associated in any commercial activities. Offering services from connected devices is prohibited in principle. Offering small-scale services, such as Finger and Ident, is permitted. For the purpose of offering more comprehensive services, you will need consent from the network manager of your housing property.
Misuses
The holder of the connection will lose their rights to use the network either for a fixed term or entirely as a result of breaching the operating guidelines of the Lnet connection. The holder of the connection is fully liable to damages.
Changing rules and prevailing rules
These rules may be changed by providing notification on the noticeboards of Lnet properties one month prior to such changes being implemented. The prevailing version of these rules are available from the Lnet network managers and LOAS.
